Director of Services Monica Raynor
S ocial enterprise Access Dental operates an out-of-hours service for patients’ urgent dental needs in Devon and Dorset. Director of Services Monica Raynor tells The Parliamentary Review that its work with the NHS also extends to providing a dental helpline, and that its nature as a clinically-led organisation helps it to provide responsive and consistent dental care. Monica discusses Access Dental’s work in greater depth and talks about the state of NHS dental services across the UK. Access Dental is a clinically led dental healthcare organisation, based in the heart of the Devon countryside. We are a proud social enterprise, with more than a decade’s experience in providing specialised unscheduled urgent dental care to the residents of Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and, more recently, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We offer a range of services including dental helplines, urgent dental clinics and dental waiting lists management services. We have proactively worked with NHS England to contribute to positive change within the NHS Commissioning Standards for Urgent Dental Care: a publication which sets out the expected standards for commissioning urgent dental care services in England. Our ethos We work to reduce oral health inequalities and our model is driven by our vision to ensure all patients have access to a valuable dental service. We continually strive for excellent standards of care, with an organisation-wide ethos in line with that of our parent organisation Devon Doctors Limited: “Putting Patients First”.
